“So I just keep holding on to him and tell myself that, for now, I should enjoy this moment. I’m on vacation. Vacations always end. It’s the very fact that it’s finite that makes traveling special. You could move to any one of those destinations you loved in small doses, and it wouldn’t be the spellbinding, life-altering seven days you spent there as a guest, letting a place into your heart fully, letting it change you.”
Above are my favorite lines from Emily Henry’s People We Meet on Vacation, and I swear, it speaks to me.
This year I am following the Popsugar Community Reading Challenge on Goodreads. I picked this book under the prompt A #BookTok Recommendation.
This book is not just an excellent holiday read but also an adventure-filled romance, which romantics and travelers will enjoy and relate to alike. Why this book speaks to me – this has near-to-perfect details on how life is when you travel, and of course, the people you meet on vacation. Undoubtedly a page-turner, the readers themselves feel transported to P’s and Alex’s adventures and misadventures.
Two months ago, I was on a long workation, where I had plans to catch up with my yearly reading goals, but that not happening is expected when you bring work along. However, reading was the only thing that didn’t happen – I met so many people on my vacation. Reading this item here has made me all nostalgic and bored while I work out of my desk back home, although it has just been a month since I have been back.
A little secret – I had lined up her Beach Read for my spring vacation to the ocean last year and couldn’t start it, me being me about romance novels. But look at me – three seasons later, I am here, absolutely loving my first Emily Henry book! Here’s to hoping for a better and safer world by spring for my next beach read (and in general xD) and me nailing the challenge this year!
Must read for – literally anyone. I promise you will fall in love.
Rating: 4.8/5 ( I guess I am biased against romance after all)
